Description

A growing number of institutions – including UNIL – now ask for a "teaching philosophy statement" during their recruitment process. But what does this document look like? What are the criteria to assess the quality of such a personal work?

This workshop will help you to explicit the values and personal convictions underlying your teaching. Based on your teaching experience, knowledge and beliefs, as well as more concrete tools such as the results of students' evaluations of your teaching, you will be accompanied through the whole process, from self-awareness and reflection, to the first draft of your teaching philosophy statement.

Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, you will have:

  • Analyzed your teaching experience and teaching style using the reflective thinking model,
  • Made explicit your own conception of teaching and learning (with regard to your underlying principles and values),
  • Begun the process of organizing and structuring a first draft of your teaching philosophy statement.
